Nelson Lakes NP & the St Arnaud Trek

Our night by the beach left us refreshed and ready to do some hitch-hiking. Having nowhere to be until the next afternoon, we thumbed a series of rides (with German tourists, a commuter, and more German tourists) to Nelson Lakes. After snagging a campsite at Sandfly City, we trekked up the St Arnaud Track. The trail leads up through beech forest to spectacular views of the lakes and surrounding mountains. Pat continued hiking around the ridge while I hiked down and took a long swim in the refreshing lake.
