PCT Day 11: Deep Creek Hot Springs

May 2

Mile 282.2-314.5 (32.3)

This morning was freezing. I woke to a thing layer of frost on my sleeping bag. As we hiked off the mountain, we slowly warmed up.

Got an early start in order to get to Deep Creek Hot Springs that afternoon. So most of the morning was just putting the miles in. It was vaguely downhill and we moved pretty quickly. By 3pm, we had covered the 25 miles.

Hung out at the hot springs for two hours, soaking in the hot pools and plunging in the cold river. We met Bojangles and Mr. Tumnas and Ramon and Pillow Talk. There were tons of people there, mostly non-hikers.

Hiked out through the beautiful canyon for a few miles. Made camp in another few miles, in a valley that felt abandoned and remote. Hot and buggy, we set up our tent for a peaceful night’s sleep.
